Internship & Clinical Supervision

At Illuminate Play Therapy, we are committed to cultivating the next generation of compassionate, skilled, and confident therapists. Our internship and supervision program provides a supportive, structured, and growth-oriented environment for emerging clinicians seeking meaningful clinical experience and strong professional mentorship.

We believe in developing therapists who are not only clinically competent but grounded, self-aware, and aligned with ethical and heart-centered practice.

Internship Program

Our internship program offers graduate-level counseling and social work students the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience in a play therapy-centered environment. Interns are carefully selected and supported as they build their skills working with children, teens, and families.

Interns may receive experience in:
  • Play therapy and child-centered interventions
  • Trauma-informed care and somatic approaches
  • Family systems work
  • Case conceptualization and treatment planning
  • Professional documentation and ethical practice
  • Collaboration with caregivers and multidisciplinary teams
Interns are supported through structured supervision, case consultation, and ongoing professional development.

Clinical Supervision

We provide clinical supervision for:
  • Pre-licensed therapists
  • Registered interns
  • Early-career clinicians seeking advanced skill development
Supervision focuses on both clinical skill-building and the internal growth of the therapist including:
  • Case consultation and clinical guidance
  • Therapeutic identity development
  • Ethical decision-making and boundaries
  • Burnout prevention and the therapist self-care
  • Integration of play therapy and trauma-informed modalities
Our supervision style is relational, reflective, and strengths-based, creating a space for learning, curiosity, and professional confidence.

Our Supervision Philosophy

We believe supervision is more than oversight - it is a collaborative relationship that fosters safety, insight, and growth. We emphasize:
  • Competency-based development
  • Compassionate feedback
  • Supportive challenge and encouragement
  • Alignment with personal and professional values
  • A trauma-informed lens for clinician growth

Who Should Apply

This program is ideal for:
  • Graduate students seeking practicum or internship hours
